There are several options: Charon, Mercury (runs OK in a NW3.1x environment), 
MastGate.
We're using MastGate and fxuucico in combination with a UUCP-account with our 
provider, and this works like a charm and is very easy to setup and maintain. 
I just had to write a little program to change internal usernames (e.g. 
BIANCA) to their email equivalents (b.haverkate in BIANCA's case) in outgoing 
emails, but that was all.
