After I typed that other message, I got to thinking about propane-fueled
engines. As we've discussed right here, it's well-known that any given engine
will run many more hours if fueled with propane than if it were fueled with
gasoline. The only exception to my knowlege is that hardened valve seats are
required for propane-fueled engines.

I don't understand that and will ask our engine-room guys at work about the
subject. Although I've seen the sparkplugs for the co-gen engines, they don't
look a lot like regular plugs. And I've not heard them comment about short
life or anything. I'm sure that they have some sort of electronic ignition,
but I don't know the particulars.
