10 tents? That is a major infestation in a single tree. I'd burn them
right out of the tree with a lit torch, foget about handling them. If
you get the nests at night, when the caterpillars return, while the
nests are small, damage to the tree is insignificant. But you may have
squashing duty for a few who escape; so wear your stompin' boots.
