Hi, I never heard from anyone on how to fix a speedometer when the
cable goes to the motor. Well I found out and will share it with
you.
In the foot of the 140 Hp Suzuki engine, there is a hole in the
leading edge about 5 inches below the cavitation plate. I had to take
apart a cover just above the water line where the hose was attached.
By using a small stiff wire I was able to loosen much material inside
the motor and blow it through. I worked the wire from both the top
and the bottom holes to accomplish the job.
Done, right,,,, no wrong. There was something clogging the line from
the gage on the dash to the motor. For this I took my car tire pump
to the boat, hooked it up to the batteries and blew the line from the
speedometer side toward the motor. The tire gage got up to 20 pounds,
then it blew through. I feel the key is the use of the tire pump
which can push high pressure air thru the system.
Hope it helps someone else.... Regards Joe
... Smile! It makes people wonder what you're up to.
