| subject: | The 3,000 mile oil change |
RN> Like the '55 Chevy, the 3,000-Mile Oil Change Is Pretty Much RN> History  i never heard that 3000 mile "rule" until in the last 15 or so years... maybe 20... but still... our older vehicles we had? we never followed that rule... we changed it when it was really dirty and black and sometimes we even tasted it to determine if it needed changing... my '79 toyota celica has gone a LOT more than 3000 miles before changing the oil... i remember at one time it was more like 12000 or maybe even 15000 and that was with a lot of long road miles on it... sure, i'd change the filter and add a quart every few months or so but geez... marketing has really made folk do some really silly things ;) and that celica? it is sitting out here under the shelter gathering dust, right now but waiting for a good rebuild to take place... no, not because of the "lack of oil changes" but because it has been sitting for some 10+ years... it is an antique, ya know? ;) )\/(ark* Origin: (1:3634/12) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 550 620 848 @PATH: 3634/12 123/500 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
