DC>> But, see: You have an insider correcting your mistakes! JP>> And she is still quite busy at it. This FIDO is where I JP>> learned a lot too. It is available to you too. Go ! DC> I'm getting better about messing around with WIN, but it DC> isn't fun! DC> I just d/l'd the SP2 pack today. All 70megs of it. you only got what you needed... it picked through what you already had hotfixed and went for just the new stuff... the FULL XPSP2 is some 250megs... that's a complete network install package... you just download it once and keep it where all your machines that need access to it can get it... that way, if you have more than one machine, you don't have to download more than once... many "in the know" have grabbed the full package and burned it to a CD so that they won't be vulnerable if they have to completely rebuild their XP box(es)... they can do the install with the wire disconnected and then pop in the CD with the full package and patch up... /then/ they can connect the wire and get back on the network with a lot less fear and trepidation of infection and/or being hacked in a few minutes... in my case, i keep everything and don't connect the wire until after having installed everything i've already downloaded... patches, firewalls, filtering proxies, browsers, etc... all stored on disk locally ;) speaking of which, i guess its time for me to burn another backup of my downloaded apps OB-) )\/(ark* Origin: (1:3634/12) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 3634/12 106/2000 633/267 |
