I have the same modem and the people who built the system have it
configured to COM3 too.  I thought it was somewhat unusual but all seems
to work well.  For some reason, it is COM2 in DOS.  I have used Ripterm
in DOS and it works fine.  I use COMIT sometimes and it works there as
well.  Any particular reason why you needed to switch com ports?

That happened to me briefly but then it stopped.  Don't know what caused
it. Don't set it to 57600, that's too fast.  It might be your init
string.  Stick with the factory defaults.
