156,000 programs? Try 3...
->        PKZIP and PKUNZIP come up to about 71k, not including the EXE 
-> creator or the comment generator. ARJ is not really bigger.
Still, when you make an install program on a diskette, and you pkunzip,
it takes less space (even pkunzjr.com!) so it's better for that...

Aparently RAR may not work with some remote terminals -> because of it's
extended ASCII display. What do you mean? -> ARJ is easier to use than
Pkzip and RAR is only an ARJ rip-off ->  wannabe.  Woah, I beg to differ,
but a GUI is always more "fun" than  command shells...
