Do you get Sky & Telescope? There was a neat telescope
shelter/observatory in one of the recent issues. It was built by one of
the newer S&T editors who lives in England. Can't remember his name
just now. Unless my brain is failing me worse than usual, you should find
it in the 2003 issues, before the July issue. It is in the back of the
magazine, and may be in the Telescope Techniques department.
Mixing more than a little concrete by hand is hard work. See if you can
get a strong buddy to help out.
Find out from your city engineer or a local contractor, how deep you need
to go to prevent frost heaving, and go deeper than that. You really don't
want it to frost heave. I hope your soil isn't like that where I live.
Here, three feet down might require dynamite!
