Hey Danny!

Tons of books written on the subject. Any old reference is a good starting
point. The one downloadable one I ALWAYS recommend is "Advanced
Bash-Scripting Guide". Cut and paste of the HTML/index.html yeilds;

Advanced Bash-Scripting Guide
An in-depth exploration of the art of shell scripting
Version 4.2.03
15 January 2007
Mendel Cooper

This tutorial assumes no previous knowledge of scripting or programming,
but progresses rapidly toward an
intermediate/advanced level of instruction . . . all the while sneaking
in little snippets of UNIX® wisdom and lore. It
serves as a textbook, a manual for self-study, and a reference and
source of knowledge on shell scripting techniques.
The exercises and heavily-commented examples invite active reader
participation, under the premise that the only way to
really learn scripting is to write scripts.
This book is suitable for classroom use as a general introduction to
programming concepts.
The latest update of this document, as an archived, bzip2-ed
"tarball" including both the SGML source and rendered
HTML, may be downloaded from the author's home site. A pdf version is
also available. See the change log for a revision
history.

Again, sorry about the formatting above but in my defense I tend to set up
everything to my needs terminal-wise, including we browsers. Currently I
use lynx for reading html documents since it is more condusive to that need
given it is purely text based and doesn't require more then a keyboard and
display which works out perfectly methinks. Also if I switch to a higher
resolution I can load a larger font that is readable to these tired old
eyes. ;-)
Again, again, the display of this particuar message in the console it is
running in is perfect. No DOS-think in the Fido stuff here and thus none
of the DOS-think limitations. Someone has to do this right.

Once I am finished with it they do, if they didn't already that is. :-)

MK>> Huh? How low are they orbitting?
DC> The GVT's LEOs have to dodge the one you are building!
That is the neighbour. I just get them to work is all.
Life is good,
