I've just tested my Courier and its phone socket is connected and works like
a mode-3 adaptor.  I've seen plenty of other Austel modems that work like
this.  Any idea on the reason why Austel has this regulation?  Sorry, stupid
question, Austel regulations don't need a reason. :-(
