Introduction.
The purpose of this email is to give an overview of the problem being
encountered with the PageLinkII server and running the server using the
actual IP address of a machine.
Configuration
Configuration Version
Windows 95 machine OSR 2
TCP/IP
Novell Intra NetWare 3.0.2.0
IPX gateway 1.0
NLM 0.23s
Novell Server 4.11 SP6
Multi Protocol Router 3.1
NIAS 4.0
Wanex 3.1
What the program does
The PageLinkII server program is MFC, multithreaded application that uses
Window Sockets to communicate with its client applications. The server can
function using TCP/IP or IPX/SPX as its network Protocol.
Nature of the Problem.
The problem being encountered by the server is as follows.
When the server has been installed on to a machine configured, as above, it
is unable to function using the machines physical IP address. During the
bind stage of the Socket creation, it fails with an error of 10050 (Network
is Dead).
Test tried
1: ) The server has been configured to use the local host address
(127.0.0.1) and a port of 20000. This did not produce the above error and
the server functioned correctly.
2:) The server has been configured to use the IP any address of (0.0.0.0)
and a port of 20000. This did not produce the above error and the server
functioned correctly.
If anyone can help we would appreciate it
