Steven, at 07:30 on Nov 03 1996, you wrote to David Drummond ... DD>> DD>> The Austel addendum to my Courier manual says that the DD>> DD>> use of B1 will rende the modem non-approved. To dial DD>> DD>> out forcing HST requires B1 to be set (as opposed to DD>> DD>> the authorised B0). SA>> Good thing i never got that page then! :) DD>> Ignorance of the law is NO excuse. SA> Ok, I cant use my USR V.E to dial out using HST but its ok SA> for my mate who has a AUSTEL APPROVED HST 14k4 Modem to dial SA> in??.. (unless there is such a thing as a Austel Approved SA> modem that you are not allowed to use???..) The modem may be Austel approved, as long as certain registers/setting contain only certain numbers. Setting B to 1 instead of 0 renders my normally approved modem non-approved. It may well be the same with your mate's modem. It may be one of those that Telecom had a blitz on the use of a few years ago.
