Ward Dossche wrote to Robert Bashe on Monday May 31 2004 at 12:50: RB>> But all you seem to be able to do is point fingers and try to smear RB>> the other side to gain support with your own people. WD> I'm sitting in the ZCC-conference waiting for grand things to happen. Then you're in good company, since the others appear to be doing the same. WD>>> I am and remain in favour of the openness. RB>> You present postings contradict that. WD> That certainly then explains why Malcolm is pissed at me and Renato WD> for making ZCC-material available. You use words lightly and again, as so often in recent times, attempt to divert attention from the actual topic. WD> I've never seen a conference dry-up so fast as ZCC after the reality WD> of the crossposting caught on. Maybe because there's nothing to say as long as all of you insist on being 100% right and everyone else 100% wrong. RB>> Regcon.eur has been as good as empty for many months. WD> The 'honour system', Bob, worked and works flawless. In keeping the echo empty? It certainly appears that way. RB>> And if you try to keep ZCC secret, "promising" to export all messages RB>> to ZCC-PUBLIC, who's going to believe you at this stage? WD> Janis Kracht would jump on it the first moment she saw fit. That is WD> the guarantee. Janis has no more credibility than you do at this point, and your attempts to argue against opening ZCC read-only for all sysops _still_ contradict everything you've said for the last several years. This time you can't blame the others for resisting that. RB>> You've undermined your own credibility with your wild swings in RB>> recent postings, and I'm not talking only about your credibility with RB>> your opponents, but with your friends as well. WD> "Friends" are "friends" ... they need a bit more than silly mails to WD> sway. If it were to depend to Fidonet only then these easily swayable WD> individuals are not "friends". Well, that apparently puts the cap on the present situation. Given the attitudes that have come to light in recent weeks, I was wondering when this would surface. Friends are only friends as long as they agree with you. I can't say that surprises me, since it's only a logical corollary to what's been going on up to now, but you're making a great mistake. WD> Besides, who else is complaining except yourself, some apparent Helmut WD> Hullen worshipper and the less than a handful (like in 2 or 3) WD> diehards? Some people have to retain clear vision when the leadership is going after each other like cats and dogs. And your attempt to cast distain on the critics not only of your own, but of the behavior of all the ZCs up to this point, is unworthy of the Ward Dossche I knew. RB>> Translation: since my system can't handle read-only echos, I don't RB>> want any and nobody can make me change. WD> Absolutely not what you fabricate. Just: WD> "I cannot handle one-way traffic therefore it is either 2-way or WD> no-way. In the latter case crossposting is the next best thing". No fabrication, but precisely what you write and have just repeated. WD> Are you so desperate to score you need to put words in my mouth which WD> were never there? Just as Malcolm did in his last message inhere? Just WD> as Richard Peer did in ZCC? Just as Janis did in ASIAN_LINK? I'm beginning to think you don're realize what you're writing, assuming you really believe the above. Maybe it's time for a long vacation, just to cool off and come down to earth. WD> And I need to trust these people and find a compromise? Aw c'mon ... WD> ;-) Since none of you trusts the other and everyone insists on being 100% right, the others 100% wrong, the question is moot.
