Understand that Bute is not aspirin although in a sense it works like it..
Bute is a potentially dangerous drug depending on the conditions. You should
aviod giving it excessively over a long period of time, use Banamine on
babies instead since it has the potential for causing ulcers in the babies.
However Bute is a very effective pain killer and anti-inflamitory..

Always give a horse a bit of leeway when coming off an illness.. don't go
back to full schedule right away if you can aviod it. Just like humans.. they
loose muscle tone.. and can be prone to relapses when not given enough time
to recover when hit with severe upper respratory infections (we had two this
year like that).

I'd try it first and see if the horse would eat it.. but grass hay is not as
rich as Alfafa.
