No, but the glass is translucent, or frosted.  Yep, pear-shaped is about
right, with the "stem" down in the holder.  I'm not sure what I thought
they were as a kid; they looked like they were filled with the liquid 
soap you see in gas station bathrooms, but I couldn't for the life of me
figure out why they were set so *high up* if you were supposed to wash 
your hands with 'em...
