Hello Jim:
=> I am sure i would like to spend several days there, especially in the
engines
=> engine area.
They are clearly putting in one area, their inventory of
recips. There are a couple of cutaways which currently sit beside the
respective aircraft in which that engine is installed, but most of the
other intact inlines, radials, rotaries, Vee's and oil burners are now in
the Modern hangar.

That is generally true. Excepting finer tolerances made
possible by advances in metalurgy, the last of the radials and V-12s were
generally a more complex development than the gas turbine is today. The
Big Rounds certainly had more character and sounded much better too.....
:-)

The C-5 which attended the Niagara Falls, NY airshow suffered a
hydraulic pump failure in the noise when she was taxiing in. There was
fluid ALL OVER the ramp when I approached the a/c early Saturday
morning. I asked about the leak, and the Skipper told me that I wasn't
supposed to notice that..... :-( They had another pump enroute and
wanted to get the mess cleaned up so people didn't walk through it.
They had the tail open, but did not have the nose raised, and could not,
until the new pump was installed. When I asked what pump had failed, he
said, "The Crew Chief is on it; I dunno. I only fly it!!" :-)
Interesting.

Where are they taking the rockets Jim?
