=-> Quoting MICHAEL DOYLE to MARTIN RIDGLEY:
MD> Fripp also claims "to have found Greg Lake sweeping up in a washroom,
MD> and singing." He liked his voice, and also claims to have taught him
MD> "everything he knows about the guitar & bass."
MR> Hmmm... where did these quotes come from?
MD> Rolling Stone - where else? Fripp was on a rant at the time, back
MD> in the early 70's. He was noticably bitter at the success of ELP.
Okay yeah, that makes sense. So, he was probably exaggerating a bit.
I'm sure he might have helped Lake on the bass, but I understood that
he was already a fairly competent guitarist when he joined KC.
Anyway, I never saw that interview, but I'm not surprised at Fripp's
bitterness. I don't think he liked ELP, mainly for musical reasons,
but I'm sure it also bothered him that Lake's career took off with
that project.
