| subject: | Courier Purchase? |
AT> Now that I've found enough pennies to purchase a Courier.. can AT> someone name a reliable dealer and how much I should be looking to AT> pay for it.. I bought my Courier from Standard Computers, ph: (03) 9315 1234. Yes, they do mail orders. It cost me $439 about three months ago. AT> I haven't kept up with the latest price + I don't wanna get a courier AT> with an old sdl and then have to chase around for the newer ones... Most of the Oz Couriers will come with an older SDL. They should have V.34 33.6k though, but very few will have the newest SDL. If it only comes with V.FC, then it's been sitting on a shelf for a very long time. Mine came with the latest official Oz SDL loaded, which I then upgraded to the hacked US SDL, which I doubt USR would preload anyway, so therefore the modem came with the lasted SDL loaded. AT> Or should I obtain a foreign Courier thus making it possible to use AT> the US SDL's? Normally, I'd say "it's up to you", but with USR's new x2 56k protocol coming soon(ish), and the fact that the US/Canada model looks like it will *not* work in Australia with this new protocol, you could very well be better off buying the Oz version. Regards, Frank ...
