G'day All,

I am thinking of quitting NZ_FIDONET as Moderator of this Echo.

This is as I am fairly busy work wise and I don't get to see ALL
messages in here every day and I feel a MODERATOR just has to do
that. I also feel that I have been here for long enough and it's
time someone else had a shot to liven up the Echo as it were.
I often want to reply to messages but feel I would maybe break
my own rules by doing so. This means I don't post as often as
I used to.

Having said that.... This Echo was bequeathed to me by Denis
Wadsworth whom I am sure you have heard about. At the time he
handed over to me I promised him he could have NZ_FIDONET,
NZ_BUYSELL and NZ_COMM_BUYSELL back if I resigned. We *used*
to have NZ_ECHO as well but that was unmoderated for some time
and was recently dropped off. I believe Jenny Gooch was the
last Moderator of record.

AIUI NZ_COMM_BUYSELL doesn't exist any more so I can't hand that
back anyway.

In my time here I have tried to encourage people to have their say
about ANYTHING that is on their mind and it's still my humble
opinion that people should do just that. It's also my opinion that
people should not SWEAR, FLAME and have AD HOMINEM arguments.
 
The way I see it at the moment is that I can resign and leave
the lot of you to elect a new Moderator. I can carry on the way
I am. I can invite Denis Wadsworth to come back. I can ask ALL
the users of this Echo for their opinion which is what I am
now doing.
 
My thought is that a few posters here are WORTHY of being
Moderator of this Echo.

Miles Maxted...

Nicolaas Hawkins...

Heather Lennox...

These are names put forward for YOUR consideration and are just
MY thoughts. They are not in any particular order and none of
those people knew I was going to send this message. I look
forward to seeing some comment. While I think about it...
Brendon comes to mind too.

SO.... Are you happy the way things are?

Want an Election?

Or just don't want to know?


Please note that I am not getting out of Fido. I plan on staying
in this Echo and others I frequent.
