The lens will probably work very well.  It may be a bit large tho. The
grating needs to be characterized for the angle for the first order
reflection so that you can put it in the box at about the right angle and
have the adjustment range suitable for the various colors of light. Bob
Higgins has been bringing his spectrohelioscope up to RTMC regularly and it
is one of the highlights of my going there.  He did his from Fred's plans
and help.
