Hey Benny! Sep 10 16:18 04, Benny Pedersen wrote to Maurice Kinal: BP> when if husky will have sql we see all the power of linux :-) What's wrong with grep? Depending on the local archiving of messages there are already many tools available on a basic Linux install to take care of those issues. I see no valid reason to move beyond the basics but certainly have no problem if others wish to overbloat their systems. Where I see this latest build going is to provide the users here with a more sensible approach to what they want on their local systems as opposed to forcing them to mirror what I want as a sysop. What I hope to accomplish is to make offline messaging more effecient, especially with respect to limited resources. The node here is shooting to reduce overhead not create it. I see some good stuff in fidoconfig to assist in meeting that goal. As the sysop of the node in question I like the idea of passing the buck to the user to determine what they want as long as what happens between the node and the rest of the world sticks to what is known to work (network compatibility). What the end user wants to do on their machine is up to them. SQL? Sure, why not? That's their business.
