* In a message originally to Kathy Johnson, Marion Hansen said :-O :
:-) :KJ>What does anyone out here use as liners/bedding for their baby
:-) :brooders?
:-) :Good Question, I would also like to know the answer to that
:-) :question.
I use pine shavings for mine and I have had no problems with it !
I also use it in the nest box.
But I dont have a com. brooder I made mine out of 2 fish tanks !
          ----------- Water level
         |
+--------|--------------+
|        v    +========+|
| ____________|______<-||--- SMALL TANK
|             |        ||
|             +=========|
|         #####         |
+----------^------------+ <- BIG TANK
           |Heater
I have no problems with this method, I run the temp between 90 and 95
remember to put a towel over the tanks (Held up by close pins) This will
allow the mosture to enter the small tank and keep the heat in !
The mosture level is kept around 70% so I dont have any problems.
As the chicks grow remove the towel from one corner to help reduce the air
temp in the tank while keeping the water temp up do you get the mosture !
If you have any questions about this then feel free to post a message !
Remember I shall be away for 1 week, so if you post and I dont answer in 2 to
3 weeks then repost it cuz Fido ate it or my host deleted it ... (system
going down for a week to get new parts !)
Take care all !!!!
