Shallow spectators? There was no competition, so what do you expect?
This is one scenario that would have never happened in NASCAR (or CART or
Indy...), when one tem gets an advantage like that, either them or all the
other teams would get a rules change to even out the cars. (It makes it
driver skill rather than the car is the primary means of winning.) In one
F1 race it even said the top 2 Ferrari drivers tried to finish in a dead
heat -- ridiculous for a real motorsport.

You're forgetting the time it takes to swap drivers -- there better be
enough competition that one car isn't in front of everyone that much.
I really did like to watch F1 at one time.....
