subject: WDJ Review....

TU> I did a review for their sister publication (C User's Journal, at the
TU> time), so my interest was somewhat professional. While I absolutely
TU> hate book review columns that only write "good" reviews (they are
TU> trulyuseless) I also don't care for one's that trash books without
TU> goodreason. This magazine is very rapidly taking the second
TU> approach. Now,I have wasted some major money on useless programming
TU> texts. But your's
TU> was not one of them. As you point out, the style sort of speaks for
TU> itself....
I agree and appreciate your comments. :)
TU> It helped me get started.... I do wish you had of detailed the
TU> ListViewcomponent.... Actually, to put it a bit better, I wish
TU> SOMEONE wouldreally detail the ListView component. The ONLY book
TU> that really tells
TU> how to use it, is "Delphi Programming for Dummies, Second Edition."
TU> Andit doesn't give that much detail. Granted, I have it pretty much
TU> licked, though I would still like to know how to get it to allow me
TU> tochoose items by double clicking on them. That seems to be all but
TU> impossible....
That was the hardest thing for us...trying to figure out what we should cover
and what we wouldn't. I now understand why books don't ever cover as much as
you would like...Publisher deadlines, limited info on a beta release,
expected page counts per chapter/book, etc. We wanted to get the new Delphi
programmer going and at the same time have enough meat to be valuable
intermediate as well. I think we did pretty well all considered.
