Hello Airgunners All,
I have a field test report of my new Beesa to share with you. I bought a
new .22 cal BSA SuperTen from Airguns of Airizona (thanks again Robert)
with a custom made moderator. The rifle is a simple bolt action and has a
ten round rotary magazine that is easy and quick to load. It runs at
1005fps/32fpe with .22 Premiers for the first 50 shots out of the 400cc
bottle. The drop off after that is more noticeable on the Chrony than on
the paper. It is still putting out 20fpe at 80 shots but the end is near.
I have Kodiaks, Crow Mags and Dae Sungs en route from Airgun Express and
will advise on their output.
The scope on the rifle is a Simmons 6.5x20-44 AO without turrets in
superb B-Square mounts. The gun is primarily intended for hunting but I'm
trying to get my airgun club (WWCCA) to allow a MAGNUM Field Target Match
(no targets closer than 40 yards) or something like that. Bring out the
Careers, AR6's and Crow Magnums and lets punish some metal critters.
The moderator that AOA supplied me with is 8 inches long and made of
aluminum. Inside are two chambers, one large one with mesh packing toward
the front and boy does it work. It lowers the deafening pre-charge blast
to the level of a Crosman 1077 with a half-gone powerlet. Its much
quieter than my RN10 and is just as accurate. Five degreased
(Birchwood-Casey Degreaser) FP-10 soaked .22 Premiers into 0.342 at 50
yards was my best group on 4-11-98. Most other groups hovered around 0.75
as the shifty winds bopped my pellets to and fro. The heavier slugs ought
to settle that and bring it down to 0.500 average.
The weight of the whole package is 8.5 lbs and balances about 5 inches in
front of the trigger. The stock has a moderate right handed cheek piece
but is totally ambidexterous. Sometimes you have to shoot from the
'wrong' side in the field and besides I think those cheek piece flares
are just intended to rip off 'lefties'.
I am interested in hearing from any FT or hunting airgunner and
especially other SuperTen owners.
