At least in this case, my son was the only that actually used the pet
name for his grandmother.  His two cousins called her Gramma.  They had
fewer grands and great-grands to keep track of.  

Pet names aren't necessarily a bad thing, either...  :)  My grampa's
sister Martha was always known as Brownie, so my mom's generation and
following always called her Aunt Brownie.  And I have an Aunt Dofie,
whose real name is Dorothy.
