-=> Quoting Scott Little to Mark Shole <=- You sound like you know what your on about wonder if you can help me out here. SL> Go into the control panel -> system -> device manager SL> Find the branch with PORTS on it. Make sure everything in there is set SL> up properly (hardware flow control, 38400 or higher BPS SL> Also, find the modem branch (if there is one) and do the same. SL> Back in the control panel, find the Modems icons, and check the SL> properties of you modem in there. What do you think of this. In my control panel -> system ->device manager I have the PORTS branch under this is listed the ports on my computer: com1 com2 lpt1 Back in control panel, I have the modems icon, clicking on this brings a window, where I can click on modem properties to set what com port to connect the modem to, so under this I have: com1 com2 com2 ie, there are 'two' com2 ports listed just like that while the device manager reckons theres only one. This has been driving me daisy, I have removed modem, com2 port that I can, reinstalled everything, rung supplier, got answers like is the comp turned on. Got a number for modem tech support, where a very nice, indian accented fellow, nodded to all my complaints but failed to come up with much appart from telling me to install bitware bitcom for windows, or bring the system in. Um, has anyone else heard of this? ... Mary had a little RAM -- only about a MEG or so. ___ Blue Wave/386 v2.30 [NR] --- FreeMail 1.09* Origin: The Wizard BBS - Sydney/Australia ( +61 2 975 5692 ) (3:714/926) SEEN-BY: 50/99 620/243 623/630 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 899 932 934 SEEN-BY: 712/515 713/317 714/903 905 906 909 914 926 930 932 936 960 800/1 @PATH: 714/926 906 711/808 934 |
