       I have finished an analysis of the test interpretation structure for 
the MMPI-2 (aprox. 100 pages).  What we have experienced is more sinister and 
ugly than any of us realized.  The following exerpt is from an article that 
should be appearing in an upcoming issue of the NASVO news letter.
       The rational foundation for psychology is the medical model. According 
to the medical model, physiological dysfunctions in the brain produce 
psychological disorders.  To discriminate between the presence or absence of 
a physiological dysfunction, test questions, such as those used in the 
MMPI-2, must meet certain logical requirements.  A proper discriminator must 
follow a chain of logic relating it to the physiological dysfunction 
producing the psychological disorder it diagnoses.  Such a logical chain 
would resemble the following:
               1. Brain condition x constitutes a diseased state.
               2.Brain condition x produce behavior y.
               3. There is a causal connection between brain condition
                  x and behavior y.
                       a. Behavior y follows brain condition x in time.
                       b. Behavior y occurs at all instances of brain
                          condition x.
                       c. Behavior y does not occur in the absence of
                          of brain condition x.
               4. A question can be developed to determine the occurance of
                  behavior y and thereby establish the existence or occurance
                  of brain condition x.
               5. State question such that the response will determine the
                  the existence or non-existence of behavior y in subject
                  taking test.
       A few questions appear to meet these logical requirements.  Question 
55 provides an example:
       55. I sometimes seem to hear my thoughts being spoken out loud.
                       TRUE                    FALSE
              Biazarre Mentation
       A physiological dysfunction in the brain that mis-routed neural 
impulses to centers that process auditory sensory input would produce such a 
subjective experience.

       Bifurcation is a logical fallacy that occurs when two possible 
explanations are falsely put forth as the only possible explanations.
...197 of the 567 questions on the MMPI-2 are bifurcated.  You cannot answer 
one of these bifurcated questions without your response being interpreted as 
indicating a psychological disorder.  The test is rigged.  Questions 16 
provides an example of one way bifurcation is incorporated into the MMPI-2:
       16. Once in a while I think of things to bad to talk about.

       Rather than being a discriminator based upon the logical model stated 
previously, this question is fatally flawed.  It also violates the 
requirements for establishing a causal relationship.
       The major factor in this faltal flaw is that the interpretive 
associations are not derived from logical association but statistical 
association.  The logical model for the interpretations and the actual 
question is:
       16. Are you a or b.
                       a                       b
               Paranoia                        L Scale
               Psychasthenia
               Schizophrenia
               College Maladjustment
               Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
The bifurcated question is:
       "Are you a maladjusted paranoid college student with psychasthenia, 
schizophrenia and post-traumatic stress disorder or are you lying?"

Anyone who has taken or is faced with taking any type of psychological or 
evaluation test should determine if the interpretive structure is based upon 
multiple scales associated with either or both answer options.  If it does 
use this interpretive structure it is impossible for you to answer all the 
questions and not be diagnosed as having a psychological problem.  This is 
not an accident.  I could not believe what this implied, so I asked a 
psychaitrist if this defect were common knowledge in the profession.  It 
happens he knew one of the developers.  It is common knowledge and IT WAS 
INTENTIONALLY DESIGNED SO THAT NO ONE COULD RESPOND WITHOUT BEING SO 
DIAGNOSED.  This raises questions of entrapment and self-incrimination if 
taking one of these bifurcated test was ordered by the court or as part of 
police investigation.  IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO TAKE SUCH A TEST AND NOT APPEAR 
GUILTY.  I have designed a three item test that incorporates all the 
pseudoscience and pseudologic found in the MMPI-2 that will make it clear how 
ludicrous these tests are.     THIS IS THE MECHANISM THAT LEGITIMATES ALL 
THIS *&*(&*.  CHECK OUT ANY TEST BEFORE YOU TAKE IT.  IF THE TEST 
ADMINISTRATOR WILL NOT ANSWER QUESTIONS, TALK TO A LAWYER WHO UNDERSTANDS 
THIS.  I will post the Bozo Test seperately.
