We don't have to, it's been done. Go to www.distrowatch.com. They list some
300 linux distributions with comparison charts, and links to download
servers.
In the comparison chart, they include a "freely downloadable"
column. There aren't many distributions where this is ticked as
"none".

That said, I think we are slowly but surely drifting off topic here :-)
I'd be happy to read your comparison of *BSD, and to offer you some space
to host it if you need some.
