I think you've touched on the main reason the idea has met with either
no reaction or (in clyde's case) a negative reaction. As I mentioned
in my last message, a gateway can be set up to allow UseNet messages
to be inspected before they are "gated" to the MooseChat echo. This
is one benefit of our having such a slow echo.
On the flip side, some of us might want to consider the possible
reaction to our political satire. While there should not be too much
reaction in an "alt" newsgroup, the posts from "Saddam"
and "Dubya"
may draw a reaction. For all I know, satire of postal workers or even
"Allanys" might offend some people.
...In passing, not having alt.moose configured on Google
Groups might actually be an advantage in regards to not being bothered
too much. As well, some people might be glad that their messages
would not be "archived for eternity" on Google Groups. Still, for a
slow-moving message area, being included in Google Groups archive
would probably be an advantage. As well, I gather that Google also
has a fair number of actual message writers these days.
