TM> I heard that most of the lakes around Austin Texas have been closed
TM> because of high water, debris, and bacteria. Is there anyone down
TM> around Austin that can tell me what type of bacteria is in the water?
I cannot tell you the type bacteria as I could not find the article
from the paper. But it is caused by waste products, both
farm and septic. The water effected is that of the lakes, and wells
of people near the lakes. The people using lake or well water are
advised to boil the drinking water during this time. The MUD's (local
municiple district) water will still be purified and is not effected.
This happens periodically with floods and seems to be standard
operating proceedure. It takes several weeks for the natural water
systems to correct themselves.
