With V.34 there is a send rate AND a receive rate.  These may be different.
 Your software normally only states the one rate.

One of my downlinks swears that he ALWAYS gets 28,800 connects here, while
MY logs show 26,400

After-call diagnostics show that in fact he connects at 26,400/28,800
