THE CAT CAME BACK
Old Mr. Johnson had troubles of his own
He had a yellow cat that wouldn't leave his home
He tried and he tried to give the cat away
He gave it to a man going far, far away.
CHORUS:
But the cat came back the very next day
The cat cam back, they thought he was a goner
But the cat came back, he just couldn't stay away
Da dum, da dum, da da da da dum.
The man around the corner swore he'd shoot the cat on sight
He loaded up his gun with nails and dynamite
He waited and he waited for the cat to come around
But ninety-seven pieces of the man were all they found.
CHORUS
He gave it to a little boy with a dollar note
He told him for to take it up the river in a boat
He tied a rock around his neck, it must have weighed a pound
But then they dragged the river for the little boy had drowned.
CHORUS
he gave it to a man going out West
He told his for to take it to the one that he loved best
The train hit a curve and then it jumped the rail
And not a soul was let alive to tell the gruesome tale.
CHORUS
He gave it to a man going up in a balloon
He told him for to take it to the man in the moon
The balloon came down sixty miles away
And the man ain't been heard from till this very day.
CHORUS
The "H" bomb fell just the other day
The "A" bomb fell in the very same way
Russia went, England Went
And then the U.S.A.
But the cat came back the very next day
The cat came back, they thought he was a goner
Buth the cat came back
I guess that he is here to stay
Da dum, da dum, da da da da dum.
