subject: Hello Dave!

Hello Dave,
I have been reading in here for a couple of years and have really recieved
some good pointers from you and others in this echo. Now I have a question
of my own about my outboard. I have a '72 model Johnson 50 hp that has been
set up for several years...ummm would venture to say ass many as 8. It was
shut down with the carbs sucking in the fog of some of that storage lube.
This motor was kept under a cover for several years, but has also been out
from under the cover for a couple of years, but with the engine cover on. My
question is this....would it be recommended that the motor be torn down and
re-built before trying to run again, or....is this motor most likely a lost
cause?
Thanks for any help !
Jim
