Check your court records.
Go through every court report and document and look for mistakes and lies.
It isn't surprising to find that even simple things (i.e., names and
birthdates) are wrong. Document each error and give your attorney a copy.
This shows incompetancy on the part of the social worker and can establish
a pattern of errors which may be used in other court actions later on.
Look for opinions that are presented as facts. For example: "The child was
not unhappy, indicating that he did not wish to return home." This is an
opinion. The social worker has no idea how your child acts when he/she is
happy, sad, scared, confused, lonely, angry, tired, etc... The social
workers opinion DOES NOT prove that the child does not want to come home,
but to the judge it sounds like the social worker is saying "The child is
happy at the foster home and does not want to go home." Who do you think
the judge will side with if this is not clarified? (Not with you!)
Document all opinions that are presented as facts. Give your attorney a
copy and ask for this to be clarified in court. It might be enough to tip
the scales in your favor and CPS will have some explaining to do in court!

When going public....
If you decide to go public with your story, make your child "bigger than
life". Have a recent photo of your child blown up to poster size and attach
it to a lightweight stiff board. You can use this poster during speeches
or protests. Making the photo of your child "larger than life" is a great
attention getter, AND, the people you are speaking to are forced to SEE
your child. Granted, it's only a picture, but your child is no longer a
faceless victim of the system. Your audience will remember the color of
your childs hair, the missing tooth, the grin, the glint in your childs
eyes, and so forth. Your child will never be faceless to them again, and
that is something they must live with. (NOTE: If the child is a minor,
do not use their name, you could be in trouble with confidentiality laws.)
Many copy stores charge $5 or less for a poster sized color enlargement.

Checking for phone taps/phone traps.
If you believe your phone may be tapped, call the phone company's repair
center and ask them to check the line for taps/traps. Tell them about any
suspicious sounds (clicking, humming, etc.) that you are hearing. They
can run a signal on the line to detect most devices. If they refuse to
check your line it could be an indication that your phone is tapped, or it
could just be that their policy does not allow them to do it.
Even if your phone lines are clear, that doesn't mean that someone isn't
listening in occasionally. Someone could listen in at the phone company
rather than through the lines near your home.
Watch what you say on cellular phones, cordless phones, and car phones.
Those transmissions can easily be picked up with a scanner.

Tape record everything! ---- SEE WARNING BELOW!
Tape record or video tape all visits with your children, discussions with
social workers and others involved in your case. These recordings can
provide valuable information that might assist you with your case.

In some states it is illegal to tape anything unless all parties are
notified in advance. Check your state law first! Federal law states that
it is legal as long as one party to the conversation is aware that they are
being taped; however you could end up in jail if state law says otherwise.
