Like, Good Day, eh? ...A few tips and explanations.
When the gateway suite "gates" a UseNet article to a FidoNet message
area, it takes the header "organization line" text and puts it into
the FidoNet message "origin line". Unfortunately, the gateway does
not return the favor for FidoNet messages, but instead just deletes
the FidoNet tear line and origin line. Those who edit their FidoNet
"Origin line" and who want that custom origin to make it to into
alt.moose.rights, need to copy their Origin line into the bottom of
their message text and then change the asterisk to another character
such as a "plus sign" or for added artistic impression also copy and
alter the "tear line" along the lines of what you see at the bottom
of this message.
...Note that the original FidoNet tear line and
origin line _must_ be left intact at message end, so that your message
makes it through he FidoNet mail hubs.
Meanwhile, for the moment, as an added value service I've been jumping
through an extra technical hoop and doing this for you -- but this
misguided enthusiasm may not last. ;-)
The only other thing you MooseChat folks may notice, when messages
are quoted back to you, is that MooseChat messages have their date
changed to whatever the date is when they are actually "gated" to
the alt.moose.rights newsgroup.
...FidoNet messages may take a day or two to reach me
and, while "gating" Users249, I've found that there are some UseNet
nntp servers with rabid configurations that will delete any messages
more than a day or two old. So, to be safe, I just "re-date" all
messages going into UseNet newsgroups.
Most of you already know that the FidoNet mail packet "format" has
length limitations for all message header fields and also the length
of the origin line. So, when a subject line or an organization line
or whatever other line exceeds those limits, I'll try to chop-off the
excess in a way that is not too jarring.
The only other thing almost goes without saying; Any UseNet messages
which are either "spam" or seem to have overly "adult"
subject matter
will not be gated to MooseChat.
Thus ends the today's lesson. ;-)
Yours in the Way of the Moose, ...Steve
