6)Then of course we have the "interpretation of tongue." This is
when there is a language spoken I do not understand, but someone is present
who does and who can explain what the other has said. (1 Cor. 12:10)
7) Then we have "divers kinds of tongues." The meaning of Divers
is "various," or "several." So we have different types of languages.
(1 Cor. 12:10; 1 Cor. 12:28; 1 Cor. 12:30).
8)The "tongues of angels." This is only mentioned one time in Scripture.
(1 Cor. 13:1). Nowhere does it say they spoke in "unknown tongues."
However, it would be worthy to note of the many examples that whenever an
angel spoke to man, he was understood by the person to whom he was speaking
(see for example, Zec. 4:1,5; 6:5; Matt. 28:5; Luke 1:13).
9) Lastly, "Unknown tongues." Meaning a language not known to anyone. It's a
language that cannot be established, identified, or verified. It's simply
unknown, period! In scriptures unknown tongues are NEVER spoken of in
a positive way. (1 Cor. 14:19)
Now, I shall show you how the perverting of Scripture is actually done. Pay
close attention. Somebody has managed to transfer the "unknown tongues"
of 1 Corinthians 14 and placed it into Acts 2, and then grabbed the
"Baptism of the Holy Ghost" from Acts 2 and transferred it over into 1
Corinthians 14. This deceptiveness is so cleaver that the cult still reads it
that way when it DOESN'T! The evidence is to listen to them trying to
explain their EXPERIENCE without one shred of scriptural evidence to support
their practice. They claim to have experienced Acts 2, but still refuse to
acknowledge that those disciples spoke in KNOWN LANGUAGES! They were NOT
speaking in unknown tongues.
Folks, don't be looking for "great revivals," there isn't any coming.
What we see today is a lot of "emotional" stirrings that last but for a
moment. Once the frenzy and goose bumps disappear, it's back to the old
life. The fact is, if you have read your Bible, you would know that every
dispensation, which includes the Millennial Reign of Christ, ENDS IN
APOSTASY. Throughout the Bible we see this truth. Read it and you will find
apostasy in Genesis, chapters 1-3, Genesis, chapters 4-7, Genesis 8-11,
Genesis 12-50, Exodus 20 through Judges, chapters 1-2. The Church, as well,
is not exempt from apostasy. It is said it will go in that direction before
the return of Christ. (1 Tim. 4:1-2; 2 Tim. 3:1-8, Heb. 10:25; 2 Thess. 2:3).
We are in the "latter times" which the Bible says will end in apostasy.
These people who are departing from the faith are bringing in doctrines of
devils.
I remember coming home from work finding my landlady, Florence, in tears. I
asked her what was wrong. A Pentecostal friend, a nurse we both knew, told
her she did not have the Holy Spirit because she did not speak in tongues.
Well, if that is so, then Florence wasn't saved even though she accepted
Jesus Christ into her life! How's that for messing things up? If she
wasn't in the Spirit, then she was "not saved" for the Bible says,
"Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is NONE OF HIS" (Rom.
8:9).
I realize now this is just plain nonsense to tell someone they do not have
the Baptism of the Holy Spirit just because they don't speak in tongues. And
if one wishes to whine, "Oh well, you know, they really don't HAAAVE to
speak in tongues. What's important is that they now get the "empowering" of
the Spirit so they will walk with boldness and be a better witness for the
Lord." Hog wash! Do you know why you say that? Because you can't find any
justification of why some people get the gift of tongues while others don't.
Tell me, what it is God couldn't get done right the "first" time that He had
to go back and give it a retry? Is this a "hit or miss" process?
Let's go back to Acts 2 again for a moment. Peter has just given the
message and told the Jews what they had done to their Messiah (Acts
2:23-36). After the message they ask:
"What shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every
one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye
shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38).
Now, do we remember what happened in the upper room? They all received
the gift of the Holy Ghost. And what follows, as we continue, is that there
were saved three thousand souls (Acts 2:41). Did these three thousand
believers get Baptized by the Holy Ghost? They most certainly did. What
happened to them is the same thing that happened to all the 120 in the upper
room. However, did they all received the gift of tongues? There's not one
statement in there that says they did. And there is not one statement in the
Scriptures that insinuates, suggests, or even hints that anyone would get the
gift of tongues with the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. Nor is anyone ever
commanded to speak in tongues.
