 OK they aren't the same. I mean as I think you can guess that often
 what is quoted as baud rate is actually bit rate. If you have been
 following the thread of this message you will find that it is
 common (poor) practice for this to occur.

 Well explain then. AFAIK and has been explained elsewhere one baud can
 accommodate 4 bits hence 2400 baud= 9600 bps. I am no expert so I
 will stand correction on this.
