Replying to a message of Danny Ceppa to Bob Ackley: DC> -> On 26 Jan 07 23:42:06, Bob Ackley got back to Andy Ball DC> -> Re: births was: Teething BA>> And not just for the mother, there was a recent story where a woman BA>> was induced to deliver a couple of weeks early because her hubby had BA>> Super Bowl tickets and she (they) didn't want a little thing like BA>> childbirth to interfere with the really important stuff like a BA>> football game. DC> Now that is really a crass thing to do. What did they do next season? Dunno. Next season is next year. The event happened within the past week or two. DC> Use the kid as a football to recreate the good plays they just DC> watched? I doubt they'd go that far. It's a cinch that the kid will be brought up worshipping that ovate pigskin, though. FWIW, years ago I worked in a hospital. The maternity ward had its own guarded entrance (which was also the after-hours entrance/exit for employees). On my way in to work one night (about 2145) I saw a crowd of about 20 kids (male and female, ages about 15-19, apparently) hanging around that entrance. It was fairly obvious even from a distance that they wanted to go in and the guard wasn't going to open the door. Rather than try to go in that way and risk them forcing their way through the doors after they were opened for me, I went down into the underground doctor's parking lot and was buzzed in from there. On talking with the guard several hours later it seems that one of their 16 year old friends was delivering an infant and they all wanted to watch; I guess they thought the birthing rooms were huge and had bleachers for the cheering fans. --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:2905/3) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 2905/3 14/0 5 140/1 123/500 379/1 633/267 |
