Hi! Holger,

My new HP wouldn't have allowed even that. It required a three step process to
achieve even a 'normal' start point:
* access BIOS and tell it show a POST screen on boot;
* deactivate "secure boot"; and
* change the UEFI settings to allow for an alternate boot source.

That was all wasted on me, Holger. I'm a happy Linux driver on that HP PC now,
with most of a 1Tb drive dedicated to it (except for visualized PCs).
Oh, and I did consider a dual boot option between Windows 8.1/10 & something
Linuxie until I saw a EwwToob video by a bloke named Joe Collins. He reminded
me of some of my exploits over the years with dual booting, and I decided not
to.

Not unusual for me. I don't have any CDs, oh except for some Win98SE & XP
ones... for machines that now only run in VirtualBox (vBox) PCs. All of my
Linux hardware & vBox-ed PCs have been booted from USB sticks, imbued with ISO
images downloaded from the inter-webs.
Cheers,
Paul.
