Hey WAYNE! Mar 18 09:28 07, WAYNE CHIRNSIDE wrote to MAURICE KINAL: WC> I think i may emulate you rather than reinvent the wheel. I used ftp to stream mpeg4's and that works fantastic. No need for browser plugins for browsers I don't even have, let alone use. As far as the internet goes I hardly ever browse as there isn't anything of any cosequence out there. ftp and wget see far more airtime on the internetted connection here. Well over 90% of my downloads are source. WC> I've better thing to do than look at Flash political sites now. I've never bothered. I see enough political BS on the so-called news on TV to last a couple lifetimes. WC> I want to find some utilities to assist the disabled. WC> Text to speech. Right. I was doing something like that a decade ago and found one utility that looked to be a winner at the time. Needed much work but the basics were there. My problem was with proper sound capture at the time, basically el-cheapo sound cards and microphones. WC> Html strippers to test. Wellllllll ... sed can do that. A real boar's nest that is since many so-called html's really aren't or aren't really following the published standards. Depends on the site you're getting the originals from. Same with pdf's etc. WC> I wish to proceed before I need such. Good idea. Get the foundation laid first. MK>> Sounds familiar except Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz in this MK>> case. WC> Braggard. WC> I'm green with jealousy. :-) I recommend it with a suitable motherboard, mostly chipsets. Currently using a LGA775 Intel board with a matched set of 533MHz 512M dual channel ram (ddr2). Overkill but the price was right. Also the cpu is a dual core em64t (64-bit) 800Mhz fsb jobber. I disabled the onboard pci-e graphic thingy (950g) and put on a 66MHz pci Matrox dual head g450. That more or less matches the 4x agp dual head matrox performance wise. WC> But not for long. WC> May marks the first month I have some financial resource. WC> Stand back then! Don't go hogwild. Also I have some good stuff allocated for you depending on the targetted board, such as the agp matrox g450. I doubt I'll need it and I'd like to see it get a good home where it will be fully exploited. WC> I'm more thna doubling my power then with the Pentium III 933 WC> I previously mentioned I intend to purchase off of the disabled WC> fellow at the corner computer store. Sounds great to me. I think you'll be more then happy with it. WC> Or custom configure it myself. WC> Easier perhaps you send me a rough outline when the time comes WC> though. For sure. I'll post a build script you can edit there to suit your evil demented purposes. WC> I am one who likes routine and reliable things. Amen. WC> Is there enough room for us both on a single planet? More then enough. WC> I shall pick up some from the reduced price dented satellite bin ;-) I heard something about lawsuits pending over this issue. Nothing to do with NASA though. WC> A Charles Angelich sent me a CDR of Knoppix 3.3. WC> He like you was a very fine man. WC> He is unfortunately no longer with us. I heard that. Seems to be happening far too frequently in Fido these days. WC> I never could get Windows to run right and behave. You and everyone else. I never bothered trying. What for? You might want to check the main lynx site and see what they have along that line. I haven't been there in ages but it seems to me they used to have a whole mess of different lynx.cfg's available. WC> Now everything is just about perfect :-) For now. ;-) Life is good, Maurice --- Msged/LNX 6.2.0* Origin: The Pointy Stick Society XXIX - Only one I in teamwork (1:261/38.9) SEEN-BY: 633/267 5030/786 @PATH: 261/38 123/500 379/1 633/267 |
