Hello Frank

-=> Thus spake Frank Filippone unto Stephen Kemp <=-

FF> Is your Dynalink the rebadged USR Sportster? If so, then you have
 FF> broken V.42bis.

I assume it is as they recommend using the sportster driver. Mine's an
internal 1433vqh and the blurb on the box says it's US Robotics compatible.

FF> Bear in mind that when I say broken, I don't mean that it doesn't work
FF> at all. What happens is the modem will occasionally
"pause" for some
FF> 20 to 40 seconds during a connection, often quite repeatedly. As you
FF> can imagine, this greatly reduces overall performance, to the point
FF> where you would be better of with V.42bis turned off.

I don't seem to have this problem. I get something like this when
net surfing but I put it down to the usual bottle neck probs. But
there are no problems at all when dialling up a BBS. Could there
be something in my init string that turns it off or am i lucky
or has Dynalink released a fixed model. I bought mine late August.
 Cheers...Steve
