To the best of my knowledge this is the only adoption search echo in Fidonet. 
 Though I am not aware of any non-Zone 1 Echolist whichi would list the echos 
in their respective Zone(s).
As far as the persuasion of this echo, one reason that it might seem to be 
predominated by people of a North American "slant" is that up until this 
year, this echo wasn't distributed outside of Zone 1 - North America.  It is 
through the efforts of those who operate the Internet FTP distribution 
systems that echos like this one can finally reach into Zones 2 - 6. :-)  I 
have heard that some of the people in Zone 3 have come from either Canada 
(part of Zone 1) or the United Kingdom (part of Zone 2).  Also, I'm sure that 
there are people in Zone 3 that moved there from Zone 1 and/or moved to Zone 
1 from Zone 3 areas.  This echo (and most others) are finally truely Global 
in their distribution.
Perhaps you and some of the other participants in Zone 3 could share some 
information about adoption record access (sealed/open, easily/hard accessed) 
with the rest of us and vice versa...
