IDE may be a poor choice for software mirroring but that is not the case
for IDE hardware disk mirroring. The DupliDisk from Arco -
http://www.arcoide.com - for example, runs a RAID 1 (two-drive array)
from the Master channel of only one IDE controller. With both drives
configured as Master, even if one goes down, the computer still sees a
drive there and continues to function. It's a neat trick.
