Yep.  He's one of the unique kids... in a good way, because looks like a lot of
us here were, too.  [I was an only, going to Catholic schools and living on Air
Force bases, which meant my neighborhood peers weren't my school peers, and we
moved every bloody 3 years or so.  I got hazed hard on the long bus rides in
South Dakota, and carry a loathing of Miss Piggy to this day (picture: baby-fat
blond girl, pigtails, pink cheeks... oy vey).  On the other hand, I also
inherited my father's mouth and temper, and I DID fight back from the get-go,
so picking never lasted very long.]  

Somewhere between the hypersensitivity (I cried whenever I got frustrated or
upset there for a year or two) and the anger (left bruises) and the insecurity
that just goes with not being a Beautiful Person, I learned that the f-you
attitude was the way to go.  Just like a cat... master of the flat, unamused
stare... but that didn't come for years and years.  Sigh.
