I don't have any information on your horse, Erica, but I'm sorry this 
happened to you.  There aare, in the horse world, just as everywhere, people 
who do terrible things.
The only suggestion I could give you would be to contact the AQHA registry 
and see if they have either your mare registered under someone else's name or 
a foal showing her as the dam.
Best of luck.  Sounds as though your family has had a rough time.  I hope 
your sister continues to improve.
