Hi Daniel!
Regarding computer speakers and my general distaste for much of that
product that is on the market, you said:
-> I'll tell you what's wrong with using "real" speakers.. it is not
-> always practical to hook up the computer to a stereo which may be at
-> the other side of the room. And not everybody has the space to put
-> an amp and speakers on their computer desk. I'm willing to bet that
-> you haven't even heard the Altec Lansing computer speakers.. and
-> already you are putting them down?
You lost that bet. Before making such statements, I check out what is on
the market, and what most people normally buy, and it is usually dismal
at best.. BTW, I've personally installed and worked with several
thousand Altac Lansing pieces over the years, mostly pro audio stuff.
Of the genre, Altec Lansings sound about as good as anything else out
there, but the laws of physics deny that such a small box will put out
decent bass response, and even you might have to admit that the average
home stereo speaker runs circles around the average computer speaker.
Next time try picking on someone who doesn't know the products and
anything about sound systems. I have probably forgotten more about
speaker systems than you'll probably ever learn.
