If you do try this method remember to screen the nickels/washers for
thickness: pick two with the same thickness and place them 2 inches apart
on a flat table top and place the blade of a metal ruler or other straight
edge on top, then slide the others underneath the ruler to check that they
are the same thickness, you may find a few that are different: thinner
isn't too bad as at worst they just won't make contact but ones that are
noticeably thicker shouldn't be used. I found that a precurved washer tool
was fine for rough grinding so long as you don't go centre over centre.
