I saw Nemesis a couple night ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Liked Nemesis, Loved Lotr, and the date was a flop. I'm a science fiction
and fantasy writer and I don't get as judgemental about what people read.
Talk about negative body language just because I read a little of everything
and have read the Greats and the future Greats in the field and beyond. The
entire world isn't Ted Sturgeon, Harlan, Octavia Butler, and the feminists.
Beyond Star Trek, that was the extent of my date's exposure to science
fiction. I've read Zelazny, Herbert, Asimov, Doc Smith, Anthony, McCaffrey,
Rucker, Bujold, Gibson, Silverberg, Bradbury, Brooks, Cherryh, Ludlum,
Stasheff, Hamilton, Jordan, and Julian May. That's just what comes to mind
in a few minutes. Each author I've liked often gets everything they wrote
read, minor luminaries get at least a taste. Even Kornbluth got a read.
Simek's generation I just haven't had time to read much of, but everybody
since has copied them which develops into effectively reading their work.
The difference in reading breadth and width makes for a formal date. We'll
see if a friendship gets salvaged out of that.
